ASSEMBLIES OF INTERACTION
engages with the unspoken narratives embedded in architectural spaces, transforming the poetics of space into wearable forms. I explore how jewelry can extend the unsaid into a visible, tactile language. By investigating the systems inherent in architectural sites, I imbue materials with meaning, allowing them to speak through their presence on the body. Jewelry becomes a bridge between the metaphysical and the tangible, revealing untold stories and unseen connections. This dialogue between space and body offers a way to engage with the world beyond words. Each piece is meticulously hand-constructed from components that are precision-cut with an industrial fiber optic laser, and joined through hundreds of 0.7mm micro laser welds and intermittent silver solder joints. These methods and materials mimic the aesthetics and residue of industrial construction, echoing its processes and visual language. The crude operative applications of building at architectural scale subtly shifts into poetic moments—revealing beauty and refinement within the scale and function of ornament. This work transforms and translates the chaotic yet systematic language of architecture. Roles are reversed: instead of our bodies inhabiting the built environment, the language of these spaces now occupies the intimate landscape of the body. This approach challenges jewelry, using the medium to explore value, material sign systems, and identity—inviting deeper engagement with the architecture that surrounds us. |
